People & Culture Coordinator – Emergency Unit

About the role
The People & Culture Coordinator for the Emergency Unit supports the International Rescue Committee’s rapid humanitarian response by delivering agile, compliant, and people‑centered HR services. Reporting to the People & Culture Director, Emergency Unit, the role works closely with emergency teams, country programs, and global HR experts to translate response priorities into practical people solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support implementation of Emergency Unit People & Culture priorities, workplans, and cross‑functional projects aligned with the unit’s strategy.
- Manage multi‑step HR initiatives end‑to‑end, including planning, stakeholder coordination, execution, documentation, and follow‑up.
- Ensure HR data integrity and HRIS accuracy across emergency locations.
- Contribute to the development, adaptation, and continuous improvement of emergency HR policies and practices.
- Provide surge support with 10–20% travel to response sites as needed.
Required profile
- Professional experience in People & Culture or Human Resources, preferably in humanitarian or high‑risk environments.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Sound judgment and capacity to work effectively in fast‑paced, evolving contexts.
- Adaptability, collaborative mindset, and a solutions‑oriented approach.
