About the role
The Principal I for Impact Methodology (Sub‑Saharan Africa) is a senior position within the Impact department of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The role supports the Bank’s transition mandate by designing, implementing and refining impact assessment frameworks across EBRD’s operations in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Design and operate an integrated system of ex‑ante impact assessment, monitoring, self‑evaluation and knowledge management.
- Lead the enhancement and maintenance of the Bank’s transition impact methodology for SSA, including country gap analyses and additionality principles.
- Coordinate inputs with sector economists and collaborate with Impact, OCE, IT, Banking and other relevant units.
- Develop and deliver knowledge‑management products to facilitate learning and communication of impact results.
- Support internal and external reporting on transition impact and performance.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in economics, development studies, public policy or a related field.
- Several years of experience in impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, preferably within a development bank or similar institution.
- Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with transition‑impact frameworks.
- Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and geographic regions.
