Program Officer - Disaster Management

About the role

The Program Officer will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of disaster management projects, ensuring timely lifesaving interventions and alignment with donor requirements and World Vision Kenya’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, manage and report on disaster management programmes, ensuring realistic log‑frames, M&E plans and timely narrative and financial reports.
• Coordinate resource acquisition, develop funding proposals and lead negotiations with donors and partners.
• Provide technical support, standardise monitoring tools and share lessons learned to improve local planning.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, UN bodies, INGOs and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate capacity‑building trainings for staff on disaster risk reduction, proposal development and compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of INGO experience in programme management across humanitarian contexts.
• Strong understanding of disaster management, anticipatory actions and humanitarian coordination architecture.
• Proven experience in resource mobilisation, fundraising and donor budget negotiations.
• Ability to work in a Christian‑based organisation, respecting cultural sensitivities and participating in faith‑based activities as required.
