School Nurse (Maternity Cover) – Primary & Nursery School

About the role

We are looking for a qualified School Nurse to provide maternity cover at Aga Khan Primary School and Aga Khan Nursery School in Kisumu. The nurse will ensure a safe, healthy environment for students and staff, delivering first‑aid, managing minor illnesses and supporting children with special health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑aid and emergency response for students and staff.
• Manage minor illnesses, injuries and administer prescribed medication.
• Maintain confidential medical records and monitor health risks.
• Promote preventive health education, infection control, nutrition and mental well‑being.
• Coordinate with parents, teachers, healthcare providers and public health officials.
• Maintain medical supplies and support school health procedures.
• Lead health‑promotion and screening programmes and refer to external health providers when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Integrity and commitment to ethical practice.
• Knowledge of child growth stages and common health issues.
• Experience in first‑aid and managing minor ailments in children.
