Sheetmetal Worker – US Navy Program (Diego Garcia)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a skilled Sheetmetal Worker to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will fabricate, install, and repair a variety of sheet‑metal components while ensuring compliance with specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet‑metal products such as ducts, vents, roofs, gutters, and related structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to prepare materials and execute tasks.
• Operate and maintain sheet‑metal tools and equipment, including shears, brakes, drills, and welding machines.
• Measure, cut, bend, weld, bolt, and solder metal to required dimensions using manual or computerized equipment.
• Install and maintain HVAC ductwork, roofing panels, and other architectural sheet‑metal components.
• Inspect completed work for proper installation, alignment, and compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate with team members, supervisors, and contractors to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety regulations.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in sheet‑metal fabrication, installation, or repair.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
