Supervisor Base Communications Office (BCO)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Supervisor BCO to lead the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System on Diego Garcia, supporting a critical U.S. Navy program.

Key responsibilities

• Lead installation and operation of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switchboard, inside‑plant telephone switches, and outside‑plant fiber optic/copper cabling.
• Supervise, train, and manage personnel responsible for communications infrastructure, ensuring compliance with BICSI certification standards.
• Monitor system performance, conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and document all activities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues quickly and maintain continuous communications support.

Required profile

• BICSI Registered Technician Level certification or higher, with additional industry‑specific certifications from equipment manufacturers.
• Extensive experience with Base Telecommunications Distribution Systems, switch operations, and cabling infrastructure management.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are highly valued.
• Valid passport (minimum one year), ability to obtain required visas, and pass medical and security requirements for overseas deployment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in switchboard and telephone switching system operations.
• Hands‑on experience with fiber optic and copper cable installation, testing, and maintenance.
• Use of diagnostic and testing equipment for telecommunications systems.
• Knowledge of AT&T, Cisco, or other manufacturer‑specific switching and cabling certifications (preferred).
