SWMC Equipment Operator – Solid Waste Management

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified SWMC (Solid Waste Management Center) Equipment Operator to support a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves safely operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment used in solid waste management operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate automotive vehicles and waste‑management equipment in compliance with NAVFAC P‑300 and 49 CFR Parts 383 and 391.
• Transport loads related to solid waste handling, ensuring proper safety and handling procedures.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑operation equipment checks, routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain current operator licenses and documentation at all times.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, waste‑management protocols, and load‑transport regulations.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize tasks and complete assignments.
• Document and retain records of equipment operation, maintenance, and load transportation activities.

Required profile

• Fully qualified and licensed to operate automotive vehicles and equipment per NAVFAC P‑300 and 49 CFR requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
