About the role
The Tank Farm Assistant is responsible for preparing and managing storage tanks at the Mombasa terminal. You will lead the tank farm crew in safe receipt, bunkering and handling of bulk petroleum products, ensuring compliance with HSSE standards and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Support delivery of the terminal’s annual HSSE plan, including participation in safety meetings, toolbox talks and drills.
- Supervise product transfer operations, ensuring they follow established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Maintain and operate tank farm vehicles, interceptor skimming equipment and VHF radios in line with HSSE policies.
- Conduct weekly PPE inspections, tank dipping, sampling and quality checks, recording data in SAP and the appropriate registers.
- Monitor tank stock levels, plan safe pump‑overs with KPRL and manage consignment stock to avoid stock‑outs.
- Maintain updated KPIs, audit findings and action‑item closures to achieve zero incidents and high audit scores.
- Authorize and document water draining, aviation quality checks and interceptor key custody.
Required profile
- Experience working in a tank farm or oil terminal environment.
- Strong knowledge of HSSE standards and safety culture.
- Ability to lead a crew and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent record‑keeping and reporting skills.
Required skills
- SAP (or similar ERP) for data entry and reporting.
- Tank dipping and product sampling techniques.
- Interceptor skimming and key custody procedures.
- Operation of VHF radios for terminal communications.
