Temporary Specialized Educational Intervenor (CUPE 2331) – South & West

About the role

The York Catholic District School Board seeks a Temporary Specialized Educational Intervenor (CUPE 2331) to support student safety and independence across schools in the South and West areas. This itinerant position will be assigned to individual schools for up to ten months, working directly with K‑12 students who have moderate to severe safety or physical needs.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group support to promote safety, mobility, and independence.
• Collaborate with principals, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to adjust programming based on student response.
• Collect and report data on student progress and intervention effectiveness.
• Adapt to new school assignments as needed, based on student needs and preferred geographic area.

Required profile

• Relevant experience working with children with special educational or physical needs.
• Ability to follow direction from school principals and work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites on an itinerant basis.
• Strong communication skills to provide feedback to staff and families.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Individual Education Plans and special education practices.
• Understanding of safety‑related interventions for students with moderate to severe needs.
