Workshop Controller

About the role

The Workshop Controller will report to the Manager of Workshop Operations and be responsible for the overall performance of TMD Kenya's service workshops. The role focuses on minimizing turnaround time, ensuring quality, driving customer satisfaction, and optimizing revenue across multiple branches.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily workshop activities, including scheduling, workflow, resource allocation and productivity tracking.
• Monitor key performance indicators such as job completion rates, technician utilisation and service‑bay optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with KEBS, NTSA, manufacturer specifications and OSHA Kenya safety standards.
• Conduct daily compliance audits and enforce 100% adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Establish strict turnaround‑time (TAT) targets, implement real‑time job tracking and maintain emergency fast‑track lanes with a 2‑hour service guarantee.
• Pre‑order critical parts based on service forecasting to eliminate parts‑related delays.

Required profile

• Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Trade certification from a recognised automotive training institution.
• Valid Class B driving licence (Class C preferred).
• 5–7 years progressive experience in automotive workshop operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Professional certifications from major automotive manufacturers are an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment.
• Strong knowledge of automotive technologies.
