Accelerated Disease Control Consultant (Remote)

About the role
The Accelerated Disease Control (ADC) workstream at UNICEF is creating a pre‑screened pool of experts to provide technical assistance for disease elimination, outbreak preparedness and response. As a Consultant you will support the Immunization Section of the Global Programme Division, working remotely and, when required, deploying to duty stations worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Provide targeted technical advice on vaccine‑preventable disease control, outbreak response and elimination strategies.
- Collaborate with UNICEF Programme Division, Centres of Excellence, country offices, WHO regional and country offices, and partner organisations such as MSF and IFRC.
- Assist in developing high‑quality vaccination plans, surveillance tools and preparedness frameworks.
- Support rapid response activities during epidemics, including emerging threats like Ebola and mpox.
- Contribute to updating the expert pool to reflect evolving global and regional health priorities.
Required profile
- Relevant advanced degree or equivalent professional experience in public health, epidemiology, immunization or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in disease control programmes, outbreak investigation or vaccine deployment.
- Ability to work independently and in multi‑disciplinary teams across different time zones.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in vaccine‑preventable disease control and outbreak response.
- Familiarity with WHO guidelines, UNICEF immunization strategies and global health frameworks.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
