Pharmaceutical Technologist – Clinical Trials

About the role

The Pharmaceutical Technologist is responsible for dispensing investigational trial medications and managing their inventory within the KEMRI research facility. This entry‑level position ensures proper handling, documentation, and distribution of trial products to study participants.

Key responsibilities

• Chart morning and afternoon temperatures of the Investigational Product (IP) room.
• Ship IPs as requested and receive/store them in the designated IP room.
• Maintain accurate tracking of all IPs and respond to related queries.
• Complete required documentation and liaise with site study staff regarding IPs.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock‑taking of IPs.
• Dispense IPs to study participants and provide usage instructions.
• Attend regular departmental meetings and Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Registration and license with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Computer literate.
• Detail‑oriented with strong communication skills.
• Responsive to emails and phone calls.
• Experience in research and clinical trials is an added advantage.
