Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team of Tower Sacco by handling daily accounting tasks, ensuring accurate posting of transactions, and maintaining proper documentation. This role is essential for the smooth operation of the Society’s financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Update bank remittances to members’ accounts on a daily basis.
• Prepare local purchase orders and reconcile cash‑books with bank statements.
• Post entries to ledger accounts and follow up on outstanding reconciliation items.
• Manage journals, ledgers, and assist senior accounting staff with liquidity reports and statement preparation.
• Sort and post financial documents, review system reports for accuracy, and investigate errors.
• Prepare cheques, payment vouchers, and process member withdrawals and deductions.
• Handle daily petty‑cash requisitions, issuance, and ledger posting.
• Maintain stock records, conduct physical counts, and perform regular stock reconciliations.
• Scan, file, and organize all accounts invoices.
• Investigate ledger differences and advise the Chief Accountant.

Required profile

• Minimum CPA II/CIFA II, or Diploma in Accountancy/Finance & Banking (or equivalent degree).
• At least 1 month of relevant experience; 3+ years in a SACCO or financial institution is an advantage.
• KCSE mean grade C (plain) with C in Mathematics and English.
• Age 24 years or older.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and high integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
