Adjunct Scientist – Dryland Crops Improvement

About the role

CIMMYT’s Dryland Crops Program seeks early- or mid‑career scientists from national agricultural research institutions to join a research team focused on improving sorghum, pearl millet, finger millet, groundnut, or pigeon pea in West or Eastern Africa. This part‑time adjunct affiliation allows you to collaborate directly with CIMMYT scientists while advancing your own research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to CIMMYT research activities under the guidance of a host scientist.
• Engage in joint proposal development, scientific publications, and conference participation.
• Participate in exchange visits, field activities, workshops, and strategic meetings as funding permits.
• Provide technical reports and an exit report documenting achievements and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Active full‑time employee of a National Agricultural Research Institution in a focus country.
• Early‑ or mid‑career researcher with expertise in crop breeding, seed systems, socio‑economics, data science, agronomy, or related disciplines.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
