Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will drive growth for SMEP Microfinance Bank by promoting products, acquiring new customers and expanding market reach among MSMEs and institutional clients in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Market banking and micro‑finance products and onboard new customers.
• Segment target markets, focusing on MSMEs and institutions.
• Increase loan portfolios, deposits and transactional income through effective marketing channels.
• Conduct responsible credit underwriting, manage loan portfolios and ensure compliance with bank policies.
• Prepare regular reports, maintain accurate customer records and act on audit recommendations.
• Provide training to customers, promote retention and contribute to the development of innovative financial products.

Required profile

• Practising Christian with strong values and a passion for service.
• Degree or diploma in a business‑related field.
• Knowledge of sales, marketing, credit risk; micro‑finance experience preferred.
• Ability to perform financial analysis, deliver excellent customer service and use computers proficiently.
• Self‑driven team player with good communication skills.
