Check-Off Team Leader

About the role

The Check-Off Team Leader is a full‑time, on‑site position at Mwananchi Credit Limited in Nairobi. You will lead the team responsible for processing payroll‑based (check‑off) loan applications, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a smooth client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end management of check‑off loan operations, from application to repayment.
• Supervise a team handling loan verification, approval, and record‑keeping.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and Kenyan financial regulations.
• Collaborate with corporate relationship managers and employer partners to manage check‑off agreements.
• Monitor portfolio performance, resolve payment discrepancies, and handle exceptions promptly.
• Set team targets, track performance metrics, and prepare operational and risk reports.
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Coach and develop team members, enforce service standards, and support audit activities.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Experience in credit operations, loan processing, or micro‑finance, preferably with payroll‑based products.
• Solid numerical, analytical, and reporting capabilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Knowledge of Kenya’s financial regulatory framework.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or related field; credit‑management certification is a plus.
