Child Protection and Care System Strengthening Advisor

About the role

The Advisor will serve as the subject‑matter expert for child protection, care and early childhood development systems in Kenya. Working closely with government, civil society and faith‑based partners, the role supports the implementation of a multi‑county project aimed at strengthening national systems that protect vulnerable children and support families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on child protection policies, case management, alternative care and social service workforce strengthening.
• Analyze and improve the national Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) in collaboration with resource partners.
• Develop competencies, training materials and facilitate Training‑of‑Trainers for health, social service and community actors.
• Support child protection authorities to meet national standards, promote supportive supervision and enhance implementation quality.
• Coordinate with the Project Director, global technical counterpart and other teams to align system‑strengthening approaches with early childhood development, family strengthening, parenting and violence prevention initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with key project, technical and partner stakeholders to ensure sustainable system change.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in child protection and care system strengthening, preferably within the Kenyan context.
• Experience working with government agencies, NGOs and community organisations on policy and service improvement.
• Proven ability to develop training curricula and deliver capacity‑building activities.
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing information management systems and recommending improvements.

Required skills

• Experience with child protection information management systems (CPIMS) or similar data platforms.
