About the role
Goldbelt Apex is seeking an experienced Country Program Manager to lead infectious disease surveillance and biomedical research activities in an African country. The role serves as the operational hub for coordinating sites, laboratories, partners, and logistics in support of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR)-Africa program.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day surveillance and research operations across clinical, laboratory, military, and field sites.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring timely specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipment.
- Monitor project schedules, staffing, budgets, and deliverables while providing regular updates to government leadership.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Ministries of Health, Ministries of Defense, universities, military hospitals, and research partners.
- Ensure compliance with research protocols, human subjects protections, biosafety standards, and host‑nation regulations.
- Support outbreak investigations, rapid response activities, and the development of new surveillance initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience in biomedical research, infectious disease surveillance, clinical research, or public health programs.
- Experience managing international or geographically dispersed projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or equivalent.
Required skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of biosafety standards and human subjects protection regulations.
- Proficiency in coordinating specimen logistics and laboratory operations.
