Cyber Security Officer (Grade 8)

About the role

The Cyber Security Officer will safeguard Maseno University's eCampus digital infrastructure and online learning systems against cyber threats. The role involves implementing security measures, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with university and national ICT security policies.

Key responsibilities

• Protect the eCampus digital infrastructure and online learning platforms from cyber attacks.
• Implement security protocols, firewalls, and data encryption mechanisms.
• Conduct regular system audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
• Respond to and resolve security breaches promptly.
• Train staff and students on cyber security best practices.
• Ensure compliance with university and national ICT security policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field from an accredited university.
• Professional certification such as CEH, CISSP, or CISM (advantageous).
• At least one year of relevant experience in IT security.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, risk assessment, and incident response.
