Engineering Trainee – Factory Operations

About the role

The Engineering Trainee – Factory Operations is a development position designed to prepare the successful candidate to take on the role of Factory Supervisor, providing practical exposure to production, machinery, maintenance, warehouse coordination, quality, HSE and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and support daily factory processing activities, including coffee pre‑cleaning, grading, bulking and color sorting.
• Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of production machinery and utilities, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
• Coordinate warehouse movements, ensure correct coffee lot identification, and support quality compliance.
• Participate in health, safety and environmental practices, including PPE use and lockout‑tagout procedures.
• Develop leadership skills by supervising operators, monitoring attendance and productivity, and preparing shift reports.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Food Science/Technology or related field.
• 1–3 years of practical experience in machine maintenance within a production or food‑processing environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Commitment to health, safety and quality standards and willingness to work in a coffee‑producing country.

Required skills

• Machine maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Operation of processing equipment such as Bühler Sortex, graders and gravity tables.
• Basic knowledge of coffee processing flow and quality control.
