Head of Business Development – Logistics

About the role

The Head of Business Development – Logistics will drive business growth by acquiring new customers, expanding into new markets and increasing revenue across key industry sectors. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role leads the Business Development team, creates commercial strategies and builds a robust sales pipeline to ensure sustainable profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with company objectives.
• Identify and secure new opportunities across logistics, freight forwarding, warehousing and value‑added supply‑chain solutions.
• Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline to meet revenue and profitability targets.
• Lead commercial negotiations, tenders and strategic partnerships.
• Coach, mentor and develop the Business Development team, setting and monitoring KPIs.
• Foster a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
• Maintain and grow strategic customer relationships, cross‑selling and solution‑based selling.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance and Customer Service to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Ensure effective CRM usage, accurate sales forecasting and timely performance reporting.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 10 years of experience in logistics business development.
• Kenyan national.
• Proven track record of revenue growth and market expansion.
• Strong commercial acumen and relationship‑management capabilities.
• Ability to lead and motivate a high‑performing team.
