HR Assistant Manager – Nairobi

About the role

The HR Assistant Manager will support the HR function in Nairobi by overseeing recruitment, policy implementation, payroll, and employee relations. This role ensures compliance with Kenyan labour laws and aligns HR practices with the company’s values.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, from job description drafting to onboarding.
• Review, formulate and update HR policies in line with legal requirements.
• Administer attendance tracking, leave management and shift rosters using HRMS tools.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to assess HR needs and handle disciplinary matters.
• Establish grievance channels, mediate disputes and liaise with labour unions.
• Ensure compliance with labour statutes, factory acts, minimum wage regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
• Design and deliver mandatory training programs and succession planning initiatives.
• Define KPIs, conduct performance appraisals and generate weekly productivity reports.
• Prepare bi‑weekly payroll inputs, manage overtime, advances, loans and submit monthly payroll reports.
• Maintain occupational safety and health compliance with OSHA regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
• Proven experience in HR operations, recruitment and payroll administration.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law and union negotiations.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and confidential handling skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
