HR Generalist (Short‑term Contract)

About the role

The HR Generalist supports the HR Business Partner at AMREF Health Africa’s headquarters, delivering employee‑centred HR services across the full employee lifecycle. This short‑term contract runs until December 2026 and focuses on day‑to‑day operations as well as forward‑looking HR practices.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all employee lifecycle steps, including appointment, onboarding, probation, contract changes, transfers, leave administration, and off‑boarding.
• Prepare accurate employment documentation, maintain contract trackers, and ensure confidential employee records in the HR information system.
• Support payroll and benefits administration by validating employee changes and reconciling data within agreed timelines.
• Provide first‑line guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, processes, and self‑service tools, escalating complex matters as needed.
• Monitor recurring service queries, identify pain points, and recommend improvements to the HR Business Partner.
• Maintain up‑to‑date headcount and vacancy data, track upcoming contract decisions, and flag staffing needs for workforce planning.
• Manage recruitment from requisition to appointment, including job posting, shortlisting, interview scheduling, pre‑employment checks, and documentation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in HR operations and recruitment processes.
• Ability to handle confidential data and maintain accurate HR records.
• Strong communication skills for providing guidance to employees and managers.
