Human Resources and Organizational Development Officer

About the role

The Human Resources and Organizational Development Officer provides operational and administrative support to ActionAid Kenya’s HR function. Working under the HROD Manager, the officer ensures HR policies, procedures and people processes are applied across the employee lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records, HR files and HRIS entries.
• Support recruitment processes including vacancy documentation, interview coordination, reference checks and onboarding.
• Assist with probation administration, contract renewals, transfers and other employee‑lifecycle actions.
• Facilitate the annual performance management cycle, tracking documentation and timelines.
• Coordinate staff learning and development activities, maintaining attendance records and evaluating training.
• Provide HR data for payroll processing and support employee benefits, insurance and welfare schemes.
• Respond to routine employee HR enquiries and escalate complex matters to the HROD Manager.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Experience working in a busy, multicultural NGO environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using an HRIS or related digital employee‑records system.
