Human Resources Specialist

About the role

Brookhill Projects Limited, a design‑and‑build contractor delivering residential and commercial projects in Kenya, is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to own the people function and report directly to the Directors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete, confidential staff files and ensure compliance with Kenyan employment law.
• Verify and submit payroll inputs by the 26th of each month, including project allocation and consultant invoices.
• Track and report leave monthly, providing balances to managers before approval.
• Conduct two documented performance reviews per employee per year, with time‑bound improvement plans where needed.
• Manage grievances, disciplinary actions and exits in line with the Employment Act.
• Keep policies, handbook and templates up‑to‑date and ensure they are adopted.
• Oversee recruitment through to signed contract, ensuring full documentation by the start date.
• Prepare a monthly HR report for the Directors with recommendations.

Required profile

• Direct communication style; able to enforce unpopular decisions and give candid feedback to directors.
• Highly organized, planning weeks ahead rather than reacting to deadlines.
• Firm in consistent policy enforcement.
• Commercially minded to resolve people issues cost‑effectively.
• Comfortable working across multiple sites and with a casual trade workforce.
