Junior Automation Engineer

About the role

Synkron International is seeking a Junior Automation Engineer to support field service and project execution in bottling and manufacturing plants across Kenya and the region. The role combines hands‑on installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems with client support and documentation duties. You will work under senior engineers to deliver reliable automation solutions while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automation and control systems in bottling and manufacturing plants.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems and industrial communication networks.
• Support senior engineers with diagnostics, logic modifications and software upgrades.
• Help integrate and program robotic systems for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct testing and calibration of automation components, ensuring compliance with ISO, OSHA and IEC standards.
• Provide on‑site and remote technical support to clients, including training of operators and maintenance staff.
• Maintain accurate service reports, diagnostic logs and system maintenance records.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement and electrical engineers to ensure timely delivery of components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Membership of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
• 1–3 years of experience in automation field service, maintenance or project‑based engineering.
• Experience in bottling, food processing or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
