Manager – Indirect Tax

About the role

Deloitte Tax & Legal is hiring a Manager for its Indirect Tax Team in Nairobi, Kenya. The manager ensures that client and firm expectations are met by delivering high-quality services and maintaining high utilization levels. The firm offers tax compliance services, tax advisory and legal, payroll, finance and HR outsourcing, and Global Employer Services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, engagement letters and client take-on procedures on time
• Manage the team so that client deliverables and deadlines are met
• Manage working capital for indirect tax engagements
• Liaise with government ministries and departments, and with the Kenya Revenue Authority on tax and policy matters
• Build the indirect tax portfolio through business development
• Manage engagement budgets and profitability through accurate budgeting, cost control and the right resourcing mix
• Apply knowledge of indirect tax law and practice to generate innovative solutions
• Manage day-to-day client communication and build client relationships
• Train and coach junior staff and help develop knowledge of current tax matters
• Develop and market new products
• Help clients resolve KRA audits and prepare or review tax publications and write articles

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business/Commerce, Economics or Law
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA)
• At least 6 years post-qualification experience as an indirect tax advisor/consultant, including at least 1 year in middle-level management
• Good knowledge of international and national taxation principles
