Mechanical Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to ensure the reliable operation of industrial machinery and production equipment at our Nairobi facility. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, and supporting major shutdowns to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on plant and production equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and execute timely repairs on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, chains and belts.
• Perform installation, assembly, alignment and commissioning of new equipment.
• Support planned shutdowns, overhauls and major maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals and technical specifications.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring issues.
• Follow safety, permit‑to‑work and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and keep work areas tidy.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology or a related field.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices and safety protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment.
