MEL & Research Manager

About the role

Digital Green is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL) & Research Manager to lead data‑driven insights for its AI‑powered advisory platform, FarmerChat, in Kenya and Nigeria. Based in Nairobi, you will combine traditional MEL methods with digital product analytics to understand farmer engagement and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and analyse farmer surveys and qualitative research to assess usage, trust and outcomes of FarmerChat.
• Develop sampling strategies and link self‑reported data with backend platform metrics.
• Experiment with innovative data collection approaches such as voice‑based tools, AI‑enabled methods and alternative survey formats.
• Evaluate methodological strengths, biases, data quality, cost, farmer experience and ethical considerations.
• Collaborate with Kenya program, product, UX research, technology teams and external partners.
• Report findings and recommendations to the Director of MEL.

Required profile

• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning or applied research, preferably in agriculture or digital development.
• Strong analytical mindset with curiosity to test and refine measurement approaches.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional collaborations.
• Commitment to ethical research practices and farmer‑centred design.
