Plant Technician – Maintenance & Operations

About the role

The Plant Technician is responsible for ensuring that plant machinery and equipment operate reliably and safely. This role involves routine inspections, maintenance activities, and rapid response to equipment breakdowns to support continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain plant machinery in line with procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and other plant installations.
• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, including lubrication, adjustment and calibration.
• Identify and address defects, leaks, unusual noises, vibrations, overheating and other potential faults.
• Repair or replace worn or defective components and assist with equipment installation, commissioning, modification and de‑commissioning.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults and respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Escalate complex technical problems to the Maintenance/Plant Manager or specialist.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for recurring failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement scheduled preventive maintenance activities and maintain checklists.
• Recommend replacement or refurbishment of equipment and support improvement of maintenance schedules.
• Comply with occupational health and safety requirements, apply LOTO procedures and use PPE.
• Report unsafe conditions, participate in safety inspections and toolbox talks.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure equipment availability, provide technical support during start‑up, shutdown and changeovers, and advise operators on proper equipment use.

Required profile

• Ability to operate and monitor plant equipment safely.
• Experience conducting routine inspections and maintenance activities.
• Capability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage.
• Strong record‑keeping of breakdowns, repairs and equipment performance.
• Collaborative attitude working with production teams.
