Plumber – Installation & Maintenance

About the role

The British Army Training Unit Kenya is seeking a qualified Plumber to join its facilities team. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of water, heating, drainage and fire‑suppression systems across the installation.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service and repair pipework, fittings, boilers, pressure vessels, water pumps and high‑pressure fire water networks.
• Maintain drainage and sewerage systems, ensuring safe operation of hazardous installations.
• Perform water treatment, chlorine dosing and Legionella sampling to meet compliance standards.
• Disinfect, clean and inspect showerheads and water tanks.
• Cut openings, assemble pipe sections and use hand/power tools for installation and repairs.
• Conduct pressure testing, locate leaks and complete equipment logbooks.
• Identify unsafe conditions, isolate faulty equipment and follow MOD Safe Systems of Work.
• Supervise junior tradesmen and respond to 24‑hour emergencies.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 month of relevant plumbing experience.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces and use breathing apparatus.
• Current medical fitness for hazardous work.
• Knowledge of Petroleum Safety Rule Book and MOD SRPs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to order spares.
