Principal Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

PrismHR, the HR, payroll and benefits platform used by employer‑services organizations across the US, is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to keep payroll systems available and secure. You will work in a hybrid environment, spending the first four hours of each day in the Nairobi office and the remainder remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure availability and performance across self‑hosted and Azure hosting services.
• Design and support new hosted services in collaboration with senior management.
• Automate manual processes, enforce compliance standards and evolve configuration management.
• Diagnose full‑stack issues end‑to‑end, including network, authentication, SSL and application problems.
• Own topology documentation, build and test disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Act as technical lead and mentor for the infrastructure team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure engineering.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, Windows, databases and networking.
• Strong scripting abilities and design‑level expertise for SaaS platforms.

Required skills

• Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Database and networking fundamentals.
• Configuration management tools: Puppet, Chef or Ansible.
• Container technologies: Docker.
• Virtualization: VMware.
• Cloud platform: Microsoft Azure.
• Scripting (any language) for automation.
