Principal Software Developer

About the role

Lead the development team in creating and deploying digital channel and business software solutions, overseeing the full software development lifecycle from requirements through design, build, testing, deployment and support. The role ensures solutions are secure, maintainable and aligned with Britam’s enterprise architecture while providing hands‑on technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across digital channel projects, guiding architecture, integration design and technology choices for web, mobile and USSD platforms.
• Monitor and enforce coding standards and best practices to maintain code quality and consistency.
• Ensure adherence to the software development lifecycle and gate processes, delivering reliable releases.
• Design solution architectures and detailed system designs that conform to Britam’s enterprise standards.
• Assess and promote developers’ technical skill growth through certifications, training and relevant courses.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 4+ years experience in application development, including system customization and reporting.
• 3+ years experience leading or managing development teams.
• 4+ years experience with middleware technologies such as Github, Azure Integration Services and WSO2.
• 4+ years experience with both RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• 4+ years experience in native mobile application development and SPA frameworks (Angular, React, Flutter, Vue.js).
