ICT & Database Intern

About the role

The ICT & Database Intern will provide first‑line ICT support and assist with routine database, Microsoft 365, information security, asset management, documentation and digital workplace activities. The role offers practical learning experience while contributing to reliable day‑to‑day ICT service delivery across UAF‑Africa’s virtual working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to first‑line user support requests, perform password resets, access troubleshooting and log tickets.
• Set up, configure and maintain laptops, mobile phones, printers and other ICT equipment.
• Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms) and routine account administration.
• Enter, validate and clean data in organisational databases, prepare reports and dashboards.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of ICT assets, support issuance and return processes.
• Monitor antivirus/end‑point protection status and support cybersecurity awareness activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems or related field.
• Basic understanding of Windows and macOS environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite and basic database concepts.
• Awareness of cybersecurity, data‑protection principles and responsible information handling.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
