About the role
The Project Officer will be based in the UNDP Kenya Country Office and will support the coordination and delivery of the National Plastics Action Partnership (NPAP) Secretariat. The role contributes to UNDP’s work on plastic pollution, waste management and the circular economy in Kenya.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the strategic management and day‑to‑day operations of the NPAP Secretariat, ensuring activities follow agreed priorities, timelines and governance arrangements.
- Work closely with the GPAP Secretariat, NPAP Leadership Board Chair and relevant government ministries to maintain strategic alignment and institutional ownership.
- Supervise Secretariat staff, consultants and support personnel, providing guidance and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
- Lead the development and implementation of the NPAP National Action Roadmap in collaboration with government, private sector, civil society and development partners.
- Manage relationships with technical partners, investment and financing partners, and identify opportunities to mobilise funding for priority actions.
- Support stakeholder engagement by onboarding Leadership Board members, Task Force participants and expert advisors, and act as the primary point of contact for NPAP members.
- Organise and moderate Leadership Board and Task Force meetings, including agenda setting, preparation of materials, logistics and follow‑up on actions.
- Oversee planning and delivery of workshops, stakeholder dialogues and other convenings to share knowledge and catalyse solutions.
- Coordinate national and global communications and outreach in partnership with the GPAP Secretariat, manage the NPAP presence on the GPAP Digital Collaboration Platform and contribute to event design and delivery.
- Prepare quarterly progress reports and other updates, ensuring integration of gender equality, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and safeguarding considerations.
