Regional Procurement Manager SSA

About the role

Bayer's Crop Science division is looking for a Regional Procurement Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), based in Nairobi. The role covers all required materials and services for seed production, including grower and toler contracts, field services, transportation and warehousing, packaging and technical materials or services. It works in line with regional and global category and sourcing strategies and acts as the key procurement contact for the sites in scope.

Key responsibilities

• Manage sourcing activities, stakeholder and supplier management, and the interface with the global Category Leadership network across SSA
• Develop category strategies and initiatives, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, compliance with procurement guidelines and internal and external process standards
• Engage global, regional and local stakeholders, set joint targets and act as the single procurement contact for the business
• Create and monitor supply agreements over their full lifecycle, using terms and conditions aligned with the legal function
• Provide country-specific market intelligence and conduct detailed regional supplier and supply market analysis
• Own sourcing for assigned suppliers, communicate supply constraints to the Category Leadership network and support sourcing events

Required profile

• BA/BS/MS/MBA in science, engineering or business management, with 3+ years of professional business experience, or equivalent education and experience
• Solid background in procurement processes and methodologies (category management, supplier management, sourcing)
• Ability to work in a global and virtual environment and lead virtual teams
• Experience in diverse, cross-functional project teams and in complex global environments
• Understanding of the regional markets and industries in scope
• High proficiency in written and spoken English
