Restaurant Group Junior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a growing group of four franchised restaurants based in Nairobi, is seeking a hands‑on Junior Accountant to manage the full accounting function across the business. The role covers financial controls, reporting, supplier and stock management, tax compliance, and maintaining accurate records for all restaurant locations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supplier and accounts payable processes, including reconciliations, statements, pricing reviews and timely payments.
• Oversee stock control by conducting regular stocktakes, reviewing daily counts, investigating variances and working with operations to improve inventory controls.
• Monitor daily cash, card and delivery aggregator collections, ensuring bank reconciliations match POS reports and third‑party statements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in the system and prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and analysis.
• Handle tax and statutory compliance, preparing monthly VAT returns, reconciling VAT balances with KRA iTax data and filing withholding tax.

Required profile

• CPA (K), ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, restaurant or multi‑site operations.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan VAT, withholding tax, KRA iTax and statutory compliance.
• Hands‑on experience with stock control, supplier management and cash/bank reconciliations.
