Scheme Manager (Ithanga)

About the role

The Scheme Manager will lead water distribution operations in the Westlands region of Nairobi, linking daily technical activities with commercial outcomes. You will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and expanding water services while ensuring high performance and customer confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop work plans for the zones under supervision.
• Set SMART performance goals for zonal officers and monitor their achievement.
• Prepare and communicate monthly water rationing programs to customers.
• Enforce rationing programs to build customer confidence.
• Identify distribution challenges on walk‑routes and provide swift solutions or escalate when needed.
• Grow water coverage by adding new connections, reactivating inactive ones, and extending services to unserved areas.
• Increase revenue by eliminating loss points, achieving over 110% collection efficiency, and ensuring 100% meter reading and billing efficiency.
• Patrol zones to detect illegal or irregular connections and follow established protocols.
• Respond promptly to bursts, leakages, meter servicing/replacements, and reduce flat‑rate connections to lower non‑revenue water.
• Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team to resolve technical, commercial, or customer issues.
• Compile monthly reports for the Managing Director via the Assistant Technical Manager and Technical Manager.

Required profile

• Diploma in Water Engineering, Finance, Economics, or Project Management from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration where applicable.
• Minimum five years’ experience in the water sector, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
