About the role
Genesis Analytics, the largest economics-based consulting firm in Africa, is hiring a Senior Associate for its Early Years team in Nairobi. The team helps governments and partners tackle early childhood challenges such as expanding access to quality preschool, strengthening workforce and financing systems, and improving governance and quality assurance. The role suits someone who has already done substantive analytical work and is ready to take real ownership.
Key responsibilities

- Manage small to medium client projects: workplans, project finances, internal and external teams and project administration
- Conduct and direct quantitative and qualitative analysis: system diagnostics, financing and costing studies, PPP feasibility, workforce analyses and policy benchmarking
- Develop client deliverables such as technical reports, investment cases, policy notes and slide decks, and present to senior audiences
- Engage directly with clients in working sessions, technical reviews and in-country engagements
- Mentor and support junior colleagues, contribute to proposals and business development, and lead client relationships
Required profile
- At least 3+ years of substantive professional experience in early years consulting, research, government or international development
- Demonstrated ability to own analytical workstreams independently
- Prior experience in strategy, economics or development consulting; ideally experience managing projects, budgets, workplans and teams
- Outstanding degree (top 10% of cohort) in Education, Early Childhood Development, Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Statistics or a related field; a Master's or PhD is strongly preferred
- Based in Africa or India, with a commitment to the Young World
Required skills
- Strong Excel and at least one of Stata, R or Python, able to run and interpret analyses without close supervision
- Experience with learning assessments, EMIS, DHS, MICS household surveys and administrative data is highly valued
- Excellent written and verbal English, presenting complex findings to ministers, donors and senior officials
- Fluency in French, Arabic or Portuguese is a valued asset
- Ability to use AI tools effectively and responsibly
