Senior Grants Advisor – Sudan Programme

About the role

The Senior Grants Advisor will support GIZ Kenya in implementing the “Strengthening Good Governance in Sudan” programme, focusing on peace and social cohesion initiatives. You will work closely with Sudanese civil society organisations, regional partners and internal teams to ensure effective grant management and strategic impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic partnerships to enhance coordination and synergies.
• Liaise with Sudanese CSOs and relevant stakeholders in Kenya and the region.
• Provide contextual updates on civic, governance and peacebuilding processes, highlighting opportunities and risks.
• Identify emerging actors, ideas and processes for programme engagement.
• Advise CSOs on project design and implementation within the Qudra Fund and other funding streams.
• Offer technical back‑stopping and support to partners financed through the Qudra Fund.
• Support the preparation and launch of additional Calls for Proposals for Sudanese CSOs.
• Document programme and partner implementation for internal and external learning.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Business‑fluent English and Arabic (minimum C1 CEFR).
• At least 8 years of professional experience in grant management, civil society engagement or related development work.
• Proven experience with project management tools and software.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and maintain high professionalism in fragile contexts.
