Swimming Instructor

About the role

The Swimming Instructor will manage and operate an 82‑by‑63‑foot pool on Diego Garcia, delivering high‑quality swim lessons while ensuring compliance with US Navy safety and maintenance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the pool in accordance with NAVMED P‑5010‑4, NAVSUPPFAC, CNICINST 1710.3 and other Navy instructions, including water quality monitoring, filtration, and equipment inspections.
• Plan and conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on technique, water safety, and skill development.
• Supervise swimmers, enforce safety protocols, and provide lifesaving interventions, including CPR/AED and first‑aid response.
• Deliver excellent customer service, address patron inquiries, and support pool‑related events such as competitions or training exercises.

Required profile

• Certified Swimming Instructor (American Red Cross, YMCA or equivalent).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications with a commitment to maintain them.
• Minimum one year of experience in swim instruction or lifeguard services.
• Strong understanding of pool operations, safety procedures, and maintenance practices.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and remain compliant for the duration of deployment.
