Training & Development Officer – AWARD
Semasocial · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
This role keeps AWARD’s training engine running by converting the annual workplan into courses that are delivered on schedule and to standard for fellows and partner institutions. The incumbent moves constantly between instructional design, session logistics, trainer administration, and live‑platform troubleshooting to keep the curriculum current, inclusive and well documented.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain the training calendar, sequence courses against the AWARD workplan and define venue, equipment and material requirements.
- Communicate schedules, prerequisites and deadlines to participants and monitor progress to intervene when learners fall behind.
- Co‑design modules that blend live sessions with self‑paced work, draft facilitator and learner guides, and refresh existing curricula to align with AWARD standards.
- Administer the LMS and run virtual‑session features such as breakout rooms, polls, interpretation channels, captions and recordings.
- Support trainer recruitment, onboarding, budget preparation, contract drafting, and maintain the trainer database and expertise matrix.
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑course assessments, compile attendance records, analyse feedback and produce evaluation reports.
- Organise learning assets in physical and digital repositories and act as the day‑to‑day liaison between AWARD, partners, participants and trainers.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in education, training and development or a closely related field.
- At least five years of progressive experience in capacity development and management of training programmes, preferably in an international or regional organisation.
- Professional certification in virtual facilitation and learning technologies or in e‑learning instructional design.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical support for virtual and blended learning, including LMS administration.
- Ability to manage and lead hybrid teams; working knowledge of French is an advantage.
Required skills
- Learning Management System (LMS) administration.
- Virtual facilitation and online event troubleshooting.
- E‑learning instructional design.
- Use of virtual‑session tools (breakout rooms, polls, captions, recordings).
