Lecturer – Civil Engineering (Geospatial/Surveying)

About the role

The University seeks a full‑time Lecturer in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geospatial and Surveying disciplines. The successful candidate will join the Department of Civil Engineering to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise research and contribute to curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Geospatial and Surveying Engineering.
• Design, administer and mark examinations and assessments.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship and supervision of student research projects.
• Develop teaching materials, course outlines and contribute to curriculum review.
• Prepare research proposals, publish scholarly work and participate in departmental and faculty strategic planning.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Geospatial Engineering or a related field, or a Master’s degree with at least three years of university‑level teaching or research experience.
• Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya.
• Minimum of 24 publication points, with at least ten refereed journal articles.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of geospatial and surveying principles and methods.
• Experience in curriculum development and academic assessment.
