Transport & Fleet Manager

About the role

The Transport & Fleet Manager will lead all transport and fleet operations for the company, ensuring vehicles are available, efficiently utilized, and cost‑effective. You will oversee both owned and rented fleets, optimise routes, and drive continuous improvements in fuel productivity and overall transportation costs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan vehicle requirements based on business volumes, routes and distribution plans.
• Optimise vehicle deployment, identify excess or idle assets, and monitor utilisation metrics such as kilometres, load factor and cost per kilometre.
• Track daily fuel consumption, fuel‑card usage and detect abnormal usage or leaks.
• Design and implement efficient delivery routes to minimise empty kilometres, waiting time and overtime.
• Manage relationships with rented transporters, monitor rates, service levels and compare economics with the owned fleet.
• Ensure preventive maintenance, control breakdowns, and manage repair, tyre and battery costs.
• Maintain vehicle documentation, insurance, licences and statutory compliance.
• Collaborate with Finance to control fuel, repairs, rentals, driver, tyre and insurance expenses.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly dashboards covering utilisation, fuel efficiency, downtime and transport productivity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management or a related field (MBA or additional qualification is a plus).
• 7–10 years of experience in fleet or transport management, preferably in FMCG, dairy, beverage or distribution.
• Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets and external transporters.
• Strong understanding of fleet economics, fuel optimisation and cost management.
