Transport Planner – Route Optimization

About the role

The Transport Planner (also referred to as Transport Dispatcher) is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods across the network. You will ensure on‑time deliveries, minimise transportation costs and keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and optimise transportation routes, taking into account distance, traffic, time constraints and fuel consumption.
• Communicate detailed route instructions, schedules and special delivery requirements to drivers.
• Monitor driver progress in real time, addressing any deviations, disruptions or incidents promptly.
• Use Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and tracking tools to follow shipments and vehicles.
• Act as the central point of contact for drivers, internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation efficiency.
• Identify and resolve issues such as delays, vehicle breakdowns or unexpected changes in delivery requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in transport planning, dispatch or a similar logistics role.
• Strong communication skills to interact with drivers and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to react quickly to unexpected challenges and maintain service levels.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and change initiatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and real‑time tracking tools.
