Accelerated Disease Control Consultant (Remote)

About the role

UNICEF is establishing a renewed roster of pre‑screened experts to support its Accelerated Disease Control (ADC) workstream. The consultant will provide technical assistance on disease elimination, outbreak preparedness and response, and vaccination strategies for vaccine‑preventable and epidemic‑prone diseases. The assignment runs from 1 September 2026 to 30 August 2029 and is primarily remote, with possible deployments to multiple duty stations as required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely, high‑quality technical support to UNICEF programme divisions, country offices and partners.
• Apply the latest global guidance, tools and approaches to disease control and vaccination campaigns.
• Contribute to outbreak risk assessments, preparedness plans and rapid response activities.
• Collaborate with WHO, CDC, Africa CDC, MSF, IFRC and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated actions.
• Support capacity‑building activities and knowledge transfer to local health teams.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases or a related field.
• Proven experience in vaccine‑preventable disease control, outbreak response or immunization programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multi‑agency environments.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with fluency in English.
