Accountant – Financial Reporting & Compliance

About the role

The Accountant will manage Buysimu Technologies' financial operations, ensuring accurate record‑keeping, statutory compliance, and timely reporting to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain ledgers, journals, monthly financial reports, and statutory financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss, trial balance, cash flow).
• Conduct daily reconciliations of Sasa Payand and Open float transactions, investigate discrepancies, and submit reconciliation reports.
• Process merchant payments, manage expense documentation, and verify payment requests against internal controls.
• Claim and verify eTIMS receipts, file tax documentation, and file statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, NSSF, SHIF, NITA) in line with Kenyan regulations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
• Assist in budgeting, monitor budget utilization, and support financial forecasting.
• Support payroll processing, maintain confidential payroll records, and ensure accurate statutory contributions.
• Maintain organized filing systems for all financial documents and provide analytical insights to management.

Required profile

• Mid‑level accounting experience (approximately 7 years).
• Strong understanding of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance requirements.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
