Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the finance team in delivering timely reports. This role involves handling day‑to‑day accounting activities, tax compliance, and providing analysis to aid management decisions. The position is based in Westlands, Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and financial transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• File statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF/SHIF, Housing Levy, and corporate tax.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and tax consultants as needed.
• Maintain proper filing systems for financial and tax records.
• Support management with financial analysis and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• CPA(K) qualification or equivalent professional certification.
• Minimum two years of experience in accounting and tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory filing requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
