Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role

The Accounts Payable Specialist will manage the end‑to‑end processing of supplier invoices and payments for a leading roofing products manufacturer in Kenya. You will ensure compliance with procurement policies, Kenyan tax regulations, and internal controls while supporting the finance team during month‑end close.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, and verify supplier invoices, performing three‑way matching with LPOs and delivery notes.
• Post invoices into the accounting system (SAP, ERPNext, Zoho, QuickBooks) and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare and execute vendor payments via EFT, cheque, RTGS, or mobile money, applying correct tax deductions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date vendor files, perform supplier reconciliations, and monitor outstanding items.
• Ensure timely withholding tax and VAT compliance, and submit required filings.
• Manage petty cash, post customer receipts (Mpesa, bank deposits), and perform bank reconciliations.
• Generate supplier aging reports, cash‑flow projections, and support auditors with documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA Section II/Level 4 or higher (preferred).
• 2–5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws (VAT, WHT, statutory deductions).
