Accounts Reconciliation Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Reconciliation Officer to join our finance team in Nairobi. The role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial records through regular reconciliations and supporting audit processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank statements, general ledger, member accounts, AR, AP, suspense and other control accounts.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks, unallocated funds, out‑of‑balance conditions and posting errors.
• Liaise with internal departments, vendors, members and payment service providers to settle transactional disputes and payment queries.
• Prepare reconciliation summaries, month‑end close reports and audit‑ready documentation for finance review and external auditors.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data and flag recurring discrepancies or control weaknesses to the Head of Finance.
• Support internal and external audit cycles by providing accurate reconciliation schedules and supporting evidence.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field, with part‑qualification in CPA.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in bookkeeping, general ledger accounting or high‑volume financial reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping, general ledger principles and reconciliation best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time‑management abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
